> What do we do? We raise funds for :

1. Assisting with the cost of eye examinations and glasses to those in need in our community. Also we assist with hearing aids in some cases.

2. Support for SC Lions Inc., which funds many projects including the following: --
The mobile Eye Screening Unit which is operation somewhere in the state every week.-
The SC Lions Hearing Aid Bank-
Annual SC International Youth Exchange Camp-
Annual summer camps for the visually impaired.

3. Support for Leader Dogs for the Blind that gets 60% of its funding from Lions.-
4. Our project with Storm Eye Institute at MUSC for the SC Lions Eye Research Center currently funded at $70,000 for a specific research project.-
5. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) which funds Sight Conservation efforts worldwide. Lions have raised close to $200 million to work to eradicate the causes of preventable blindness worldwide. LCIF also provides grants towards humanitarian help and disaster relief in the event of floods, hurricanes and earthquakes etc. South Carolina has received over $500,000 from LCIF in grants and disaster relief in the last ten years.-
6. Support the Lions Quest program and similar substance abuse education programs in schools for all age groups.-
7. Promote awareness and treatment of Diabetes, the leading cause of blindness in the USA.-
8. Assistance to people in our community who have special needs.
We collect used eyeglasses which, by law, cannot be reused here in the USA and send them to relief organizations for use in Third World countries.
We also organize and/or support our local, District and International projects for special purposes as circumstances indicate a significant need.
